Chapter Ten

At first, I was unsure of how to play things with Emmy and Kyle. I knew she loved him in Vegas, but that was months ago, and she’d grown and developed considerably since. When she woke me with her gurgling at almost seven the following morning, I could hardly prise my eyelids from their current position stuck to my eyeballs. But, as every mother knows, babies don't give a damn that you have had a limited sleep because you’ve been doing dirty things with the sexiest man alive. All they care about is that they need their breakfast and a change of nappy.

I reluctantly roll out of the security of Kyle's arms and visit the bathroom to brush my teeth and splash my face with water, before slipping my arms into my silk robe and pulling my hair into a high ponytail. Entering my daughter's tiny box room, she greets me with her huge grin.

'Hello, baby girl,' I call, my voice hoarse through lack of sleep.

'Mama, mama,' she holds up her arms to me, and I lovingly bring her into my embrace. I change her nappy and walk into the living area to prepare her breakfast as my mind fills with last night's conversation between Kyle and me.

I can hardly believe that he wants me and Emmy to move halfway across the world to be with him. Can I even do that? Will the authorities allow it? My heart plummets when I think of having to ask Matt to sign away his rights to visit his daughter, not that he’s bothered over the past few months. Am I impulsive, it isn't as if Kyle and I’ve had normal relationship? It’s mainly consisted of some damn fine, hot sex. Admittedly, we regularly spoken on the phone until a week or so ago, but can I seriously give up my life, my family, Emmy's family, to fly myself and my daughter to another country to be with a man that I hardly know?

Sitting Emmy in her highchair, I bring the eggs out of the fridge to prepare her breakfast, distracted by my reality check.

'Hey!' I spin around at his voice and can’t stop the smile that immediately stretches on my face. Kyle stands bleary-eyed, dressed in the jeans and t-shirt that he arrived in the previous night. His messy hair, I imagine, from where I grasped it tight as I rode him hard throughout the night. The returning smile he provides almost knocks me off my feet. He couldn't look more striking if he tried.

'Hey yourself,' I call, my eyes falling automatically to Emmy, who also turned to his approach.

'Well, hello pretty girl,' Kyle moves directly over to Emmy and lifts her out of the highchair as if he does it every day. The breath catches in my throat, as I await the customary scream of displeasure from my man-hating daughter. He lifts her high, 'what are you feeding her, Princess? You've grown!' He brings her down and kisses her cheek. 'You look more like your Ma, every day too.
